Content is king: complementary software to SimplyVideo

Extended reality (XR) is an industry that's built on interoperability. Discover how SimplyVideo can integrate with existing integrations and apps.

SimplyVideo is a remote collaboration platform built for XR devices. It's designed to help teams collaborate more effectively. Collaboration, you could say, is at the heart of what we do.

But that should come as no surprise. XR is an industry that's built
on collaboration as well as for it. It thrives on a free and open exchange of ideas. Developers don't want their apps to be ring-fenced or tied to one vendor – on the whole, they want their solutions to work alongside others.

At SimplyVideo, then, we know that we're only as good as our partners and peers. "Interoperability" may be a mouthful, but it's a core principle of our project – and a long overdue backlash against big tech's obsession with vendor-specific software and walled gardens.

Despite all this, XR is new. That means that solutions don't always slot neatly into place like Tetrominos. Sometimes, IT can feel a headache coming on when presented with a new piece of hardware and software to fit into the network jigsaw.

This is exactly what we and our partners are working against. Together, we want to create a buzzing ecosystem that just
works – one bursting with solutions that can slot in with existing tools and open up opportunities for new ones.

That's why we thought we'd throw together a little guide to celebrate the work of some of our XR buddies – to pop a cork for our partners in integration, without whom our own offering would be limited in scope.

WorkfloPlus

WorkfloPlus
is a workflow management application with XR enhancements. Its raison d'etre is to make processes easy to follow on any device.

Working closely with WorkfloPlus developers Intoware, we created a feature that connects our apps like productivity superglue.

We call it "Phonebook". It allows frontline workers in any sector to access remote expertise with just two voice commands.

And, in the spirit of interoperability, it works on all manner of devices. When it comes to installing software, the world
should be your oyster – but too often it isn't. In the world of XR, that's starting to change.

So if you're looking to digitise your routine workplace processes and boost remote collaboration on the frontline, WorkfloPlus, SimplyVideo and Phonebook could be just what you're after.

VISR Dynamics

VISR Dynamics
is the company behind Stage: the virtual learning platform that's part of the SimplyVideo multiverse.

We've talked in depth about Stage
elsewhere. The concept, however, can be summed up in just a few sentences.

Here's the elevator pitch. Imagine you're teaching a science lesson about the lunar surface. Wouldn't it be amazing to let students explore it virtually as though they were there?

With Stage, this is no longer just a daydream. Learners put on their headsets and explore, view and interact with a lifelike simulation via a tablet.

The sky's the limit. Students could explore a Roman amphitheatre in history or a volcano in geography.

All lessons are then stored on the cloud for reuse. It's a piece of software that helps educators create lessons that are immersive and memorable as well as informative.

Vuzix

So far, we've looked at software that's compatible with SimplyVideo. But we'd be nowhere without hardware – headsets and smart glasses which wearers use to connect to XR meetings.

Vuzix
is a market leader in wearable computers and AR technology. Its two big products are the M4000 and Blade 2. These are both versatile devices with XR functionality – but they serve slightly different purposes.

Blade 2 is ideal for office workers, site managers, inspectors and remote experts, whereas the M4000 is more ruggedised and built for the frontline.

But whether your staff are on an oil rig or in an office, they can use SimplyVideo to connect and remotely collaborate with experts, technicians and more.

Pexip

Pexip
is an enterprise version of videoconferencing platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. You can also use it for live streaming and website video chat widgets.

It's extremely versatile and super-secure – so much so that it's received the US Department of Defense's seal of approval.

Pexip isn't built for XR, but an integration called
SVXR allows you to deploy SimplyVideo into any of its environments. Neat!

ArborXR

Mobile phones are ubiquitous in enterprises. Every day is "bring your own device" day and teams are more flexible than ever, switching between branch, home and train faster than you can say "network complexity".

In this new working landscape, mobile device management (MDM) is super-important – and
ArborXR has created an MDM solution specifically for XR.

It allows systems administrators to remotely manage AR and VR devices and control what wearers can and can't do with them.

Google Meet and Microsoft Teams

Most companies aren't XR-native. They have established ways of working and are building an XR infrastructure on top.

Given this reality, what's the point of a device or piece of software that can't integrate with the most commonly used platforms – the Meets and Teams of this world?

That's why SimplyVideo is designed to work seamlessly with them on browsers, mobiles, XR wearables and videoconferencing software.

You can also integrate SimplyVideo into your calendar. That means you can make calls from your Google or Teams calendar like before but now with added XR features.

In short, you don't have to rip up the floorboards and start building from scratch. You can deploy SimplyVideo into the systems that your staff know and trust.

Conclusion

XR is an industry that's built on and for collaboration. We're excited to be part of an ever-growing ecosystem that's making enterprises more agile, more flexible and more efficient in so many sectors across the world. Here's to our partners in innovation!
