The UK’s 2024 budget poses significant challenges for small and medium-sized (SMB) manufacturers. Increased minimum wage rates and higher national insurance contributions add financial strain on many markets which are operating on narrow production margins as global supply chains widen the scope of competition with lower labour costs.
